To create resources manually, go to the Resources page and click the “Add Resource” button. On the next page, select the parent collection, enter a resource title, indicate if the resource should be featured in the organization’s and Aviary’s “Featured Content” lane on the homepages, and select the visibility of the resource--Public (visible on the organization and Aviary site), Private (restricted to logged in users or to specific user groups), or Unpublished (not published to the organization or Aviary websites.
On the next page, select your method of file import. Aviary allows you to import multiple media files at once from a zipped directory on your computer, using URLs for media on the web, or using HTML media embed codes.
Selecting File Upload or Link Upload will upload a copy of the media to Aviary. Selecting the Embed Code method will stream the media from the embed code location.
After you have uploaded your media, you will see a list of the resource’s associated media below the “Upload and Continue” button:
Here you can replace or remove the current media files, add or replace a thumbnail, or restrict the visibility of media files through the “Manage Media” button.
Click “Edit Description” to add or edit descriptive metadata for the resource. Click Save to continue. You will be directed to the resource view page where you can add indexes and/or transcripts. To add indexes or transcripts, click on the appropriate tab on the right sidebar and then click the small “+” button. Aviary accepts OHMS XML and WebVTT files for indexes and transcripts. On the next screen, select your file for upload, enter a name to distinguish the index/transcript, select a language, and indicate whether the index/transcript should be made public.
